Why is the mouse pointer no longer visible when you bridge a pointer device on a PCoIP Zero Client?

Problem

When using Teradici firmware version 4.5.1 and newer, after bridging the pointer device, the pointer is no longer visible on screen.

Note: This does not apply to a connection to a PCoIP Remote Workstation Card.

Cause

Firmware 4.5.1 and newer modified the mouse pointer behavior to avoid a static mouse pointer in the center of the touch screen when using the View Connection Server + Kiosk session connection type.  When there is no locally terminated pointing device attached to the PCoIP Zero Client, the firmware automatically hides the "ghost" (as there is no local one) mouse pointer so it does not appear in the center of the screen. Bridging the mouse redirects the pointer to the virtual machine, making it no longer local on the client thus the pointer is not visible.

Resolution

Upload firmware 4.8 (or newer) and log into the AWI (Configuration > USB ) and ensure Force Local Cursor Visible is selected
