Poor audio lip sync with HP Anyware
Problem
When watching video or performing any activity that requires audio sync, the audio is out of sync. This results in loss of lip sync where the spoken audio does not match the mouth movements in the video. This occurs on the Teradici Software Client but not on the PCoIP Zero Client when connected to the PCoIP Agent.
Cause
Due to the typical environment where the software client operates in such as wireless networks and over the internet, network packet loss is a common occurrence. When streaming audio over networks that have packet loss you get noticeable pops, squeaks and other audio defects when packet loss occurs. To reduce the impact of lost audio packets, PCoIP will buffer up to 100ms of audio to reconstruct missing packets. When running a PCoIP session at 30 fps and playing back 30 fps content, the 100ms delay would cause a audio lag of 3 frames (1 second / 30 fps).
Resolution
To improve lip sync and the lag between frames and audio the Software Client 3.4 introduced support for Enhanced Audio and Video Synchronization. Latest PCoIP Software Client.
Enhanced Audio and Video Synchronization provides improved full-screen video playback, reducing the difference in delays between the audio and video channels and smoothing frame playback on the client. This improves lip sync and reduces video frame drops for movie playback.
This feature introduces a small lag in user interaction responsiveness when enabled.
Enhanced A/V Sync is enabled on a per-display basis, so you can dedicate individual displays to playback without impacting responsiveness on the others.
When enabled, a check mark appears beside the Enhanced A/V Sync menu item on that display. It is disabled on all displays by default.
To use enhanced audio and video synchronization:

If you are in full-screen mode, reveal the menu bar on the display you want to enhance by moving the mouse cursor to the top.
- On the display you want to enhance, Select View > Enhanced A/V Sync to toggle enhanced sync mode.
