PCoIP HP Anyware Webcam Support

USB Webcams are supported with Teradici HP Anyware when connecting to a PCoIP Agent for Windows. Webcams can be used with Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and other conferencing applications running on the remote desktop.

 

The models outlined in the table below are compatible with HP Anyware.

USB Webcam Testing

The following section outlines how to test and verify other webcam models. 

Preconditions

The following are preconditions that must be met in order to test and verify other webcam models:

- PCoIP Software Client 21.07.0 or newer or latest Teradici PCoIP Zero Client firmware.
- PCoIP Software Client for Windows 10 or Ubuntu 18.04 or PCoIP Zero Client.
- USB webcams are attached. Webcams that are not USB are not supported.
- Host: PCoIP Standard Agent or PCoIP Graphics Agent for Windows version 21.07.0 or newer.

 

Bridge USB Webcam

The following steps outline how to bridge the webcam while in a PCoIP session, using the PCoIP Software Client menu or PCoIP Software Client command line options.

PCoIP Software Client Menu

1. Click Connection.
2. Click USB Devices.
3. Click Connect to connect to the webcam.

PCoIP Software Client Command Line Option

The following command enables you to bridge a USB device:

--vidpid-auto-forward "<VID>,<PID>"


Verify Webcam Connected in-Session

After the webcam has been connected in-session the device should be listed under Cameras or Imaging devices in the Windows Device Manager on the session host. Please note that microphones built into the webcam will not function. You will need to use another microphone.

 

Testing Webcam Connection

You can test webcam connections in a PCoIP session online, or in the session remote desktop on a local application. To test the webcam connection online, use webcamtests.com to check and verify if it's working properly in-session and find out useful information such as frame rate, bit rate, resolution, etc.

Another method to test the webcam connection from the in-session remote desktop is to launch your camera application. The webcam will light up and the video will be displayed. Click Take Video to record a video clip. Save the video under "%UserProfile%\Pictures\Camera Roll\". Use https://ffmpeg.org/download.html to attain useful information of the webcam video, codec, resolution, bit rate, etc. Additionally, on the remote desktop you can monitor the network throughput of the webcam from the Performance tab in the Task Manager.
 

Returning Information to Teradici

Once you have tested and verified a webcam model you can return the following information to Teradici for us to add to the list above:

- Make/model of webcam.
- Does the webcam show up in Device Manager without any issues?
- Does the webcam function in the camera application, Teams, Zoom or webcamtests.com.
- Default resolution.
- Frame rate.
- Upload bandwidth when using the webcam.
- Upload bandwidth capacity from ISP.
- What PCoIP Client did you use? (PCoIP Zero Client or PCoIP Software Client).
