Problem

When installing host software on a PC, the following error message may be displayed:

"No PCoIP devices detected. Please ensure the hardware is installed and the Host Driver Function is enabled on the PCoIP Host card prior to installing the software."

Cause

This error can appear for the following reasons:

  1. The PC does not have a PCoIP Host card installed
  2. The Host driver function is not enabled in the PCoIP Host Card.
  3. The workstation PCIe bus is not enabled or may be defective.
  4. The Host Card may be defective
  5. The workstation BIOS may be preventing the PCoIP Host Card from being enumerated correctly on the PCIe bus

Resolution

1) The PC does not have a PCoIP Host card installed

  1. Install the PCoIP host card in a supported PCIe slot (and make sure it is seated correctly).
  2. Reboot the workstation to install the PCoIP Host Software Drivers

2) The Host Driver Function in the PCoIP Host Card is not enabled.

  1. Enable the Host Driver Function in the PCoIP Host card
    1. From the PCoIP Host Card Administrative Web Interface (AWI) navigate to Configuration > Host Driver Functio
    2. Ensure that the Enable Host Driver Function checkbox is checked
  2. Reboot the workstation and install the PCoIP Host Software drivers

3) The workstation PCIe bus is not enabled or may be defective

  1. Test the PCoIP Host Card in a different compatible PCIe slot
  2. Test the PCoIP Host Card in another workstation
  3. Note that some workstations with multiple CPU sockets may have a PCIe bus dependency on a particular CPU socket being populated for the PCIe slot to be enabled.  Check the documentation from the workstation vendor.

4) The PCoIP Host Card may be defective

  1. Test with another PCoIP Host Card
    1. If the test is successful, then the original PCoIP host card may be defective.
    2. If the test is not successful, then see the BIOS option below.

5) The workstation BIOS may be preventing the PCoIP Host Card from being enumerated correctly on the PCIe bus

  1. Engage the workstation vendor to ensure that the workstation BIOS supports PCoIP Host Cards.
