Scenario

Occasionally when using a MagTek USB KB Swipe Card Reader attached to a zero client, the card data is read incorrectly. This can cause undefined behaviour. (i.e. a key repeats indefinitely).

Cause

Some USB Keyboard Emulation Card Readers have endpoint descriptor polling intervals that make card data transfers to the attached reader too fast  for the zero clients.

Resolution

Set the MagTek USB KB Swipe Card Reader adjustable endpoint descriptor polling interval value to any value between 2-255 milliseconds (ms). By default this is set at 1 ms. To change the value use the configuration application available from the MagTek website; search for swipe utility. (http://www.magtek.com/support/software/demo_programs/usb_swipe_insert.asp).

For more details see the MagTek USB KB SURESWIPE & USB KB SWIPE READER TECHNICAL REFERENCE MANUAL Manual Part Number 99875206 Rev18.

NOTE: If you have any questions or issues setting the endpoint descriptor polling interval value, please contact MagTek.
