Scenario

A Teradici HP Anyware or HP Anyware Plus trial license is current installed on a machine. A full HP Anyware or HP Anyware Plus subscription has been purchased and the machines with the trial license need to be converted.

Resolution

Teradici licensing is offered in either Cloud Licensing or a local license server.

Teradici Cloud Licensing trial to Cloud Licensing paid subscription

Teradici Cloud Licensing uses many license servers in the cloud. When a trial license is generated, a license server for your organization is created. The license server contains a pool of licenses allocated to PCoIP sessions on a first come first served basis.

When a HP Anyware or HP Anyware Plus  is purchased, the licenses are added to your organizations Cloud License server pool. Once the trial licenses expire the PCoIP sessions will automatically check out licenses from the remaining licenses in the pool. No action is required on the machines uses the Cloud Licensing.

To confirm your HP Anyware or HP Anyware Plus licenses are allocated to the same license server compare the trial license registration code to the registration code provided with the purchased subscription. The license server should be the same for both. The license server is YUOIFUSD32 in the example registration code YUOIFUSD32@AB33-H372-D78E-78XX. If you have two different license servers and do not plan on using new machines with your purchased license please open a ticket with Teradici Support (https://docs.teradici.com) providing the following information to expedite the request:

  • The Windows machine name
  • Support bundle

Teradici Cloud Licensing Trial to local License server

When moving from a Teradici Cloud Licensing trial to a Local License server with a HP Anyware or HP Anyware Plus the following needs to be completed:

  1. Install a PCoIP License Server using the version that is part of the HP Anyware or HP Anyware Plus release you will be using.
  2. Consult the PCoIP Agent Administrators' guide for the options for configuring the PCoIP Agent to use a license server.

When a PCoIP session is started the PCoIP Agent will check all known licenses sources for a valid license. The first available valid license will be used. When the cloud licenses expire they will no longer be used and the agent will use the Local License server.

To test licensing is working with the Windows PCoIP Agent use the Windows Powershell script pcoip-validate-license.ps1 or for the Linux PCoIP Agent the command pcoip-validate-license. For more information on validating licenses please consult the Administrators' Guide.

Teradici local License Server Trial to Teradici Local License Server
