Problem

When running HP Anyware Standard Agent for Linux on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS with Unity as the desktop environment the PCoIP session is very slow. The session is consistently slow even when doing tasks such as browsing the internet.

Cause

The Unity desktop environment desktop composition manger is very resource intensive. From the terminal, use

ps aux

to list running processes. You will find that compiz is using a lot of CPU time which is one of the processes for unity.

Resolution

Switch to using KDE as the desktop environment. KDE with HP Anyware for Linux is supported by HP Anyware Global Support Services.
For more information on supported desktop environments see the HP Anyware PCoIP Graphics Agent for Linux Administrators' Guide or HP Anyware PCoIP Standard Agent for Linux Administrators' Guide.
