Remote Workstation Card Firmware

Management Requirements

  • Remote Workstation Cards with firmware 17.05, 20.01.x or newer is supported when managed by PCoIP Management Console 20.01 or newer.  
  • Supported browsers are Firefox, Chrome, and Microsoft Edge. Versions of the browsers tested are those that were available prior to release.
  • Web browsers must support TLS 1.2 or higher to connect to an enabled administrative web interface (AWI).
  • Some features require the Remote Workstation Card Software installed to work.

Upgrade Path Information

If you are upgrading your Tera2 firmware:

  • Use PCoIP Management Console 20.01 or newer to upgrade to firmware 20.01 or newer.
  • Use PCoIP Management Console 1.10.3 through 1.10.8 to upgrade to firmware 5.x from firmware 4.9 or older.
  • The AWI can be used to upgrade a single Remote Workstation Card firmware to any firmware version.

This download includes an .all file for use by the Administrative Web Interface (AWI) and a .pcoip file for use by PCoIP Management Console version 2.0 and higher.
The .pcoip file is used by the PCoIP Management Console and contains the Remote Workstation Card firmware release.

What's New


Custom certificate support for direct connections to Remote Workstation Card

PCoIP Zero Clients can be paired to PCoIP Remote Workstation Cards using custom certificates to establish a secure PCoIP peer-to-peer connection.

Note: Best security practice

Teradici highly recommends using this new feature to create a more secure environment. Contact your IT department to ensure your deployment is in accordance with your Company's security policy.

What's New

Support for Management Console 3.1+

The Remote Workstation Card is now compatible with PCoIP Management Console 3.1 and higher. This permits the use of a single management tool for both remote workstation cards and zero clients when using modern firmware.

Removal of Connection Management Interface (CMI)

CMI is no longer available in the Remote Workstation Card. As a result of the removal of CMI, the Remote Workstation Card is no longer compatible with PCoIP Management Console 1.x but maintains brokering with Horizon View. Brokering by way of the PCoIP Broker Protocol is planned for a future release

Security Updates

The Remote Workstation Card Firmware session security mode has been improved.

The minimum TLS version required for establishing a PCoIP session is now TLS 1.1. The minimum TLS version required to access the Administrative Web Interface (AWI) is now TLS 1.2.

The Administrative Web Interface certificate is now a SHA-256 certificate with 3072-bit RSA encryption.

SNMP sysName

Now reports the endpoint FQDN instead of "Teradici Corp"

Time Zone Database update

GMT time zones have been replaced with the 2016j IANA time zone database.

Release Overview

Remote Workstation Card Firmware 17.05.0 is a firmware release replacing firmware 4.9.0 for Remote Workstation Cards (not PCoIP Zero Clients).

This release is a maintenance release with bug fixes and security updates over release 4.9.0. These release notes provide a summary of compatibility notes, resolved issues, and known issues for this release.

Important Notice

If you are using PCoIP Management Console to deploy firmware updates, you must upgrade to Management Console 20.01 or newer before deploying firmware 17.05 or 20.01 or newer.

Deploying endpoints from an earlier version of Management Console may cause endpoints to become unmanageable.

What's New in 17.05

Versioning Number Change

Remote Workstation Card firmware is on a new numbering scheme, where the first number is the release date year, and the second number is the release date month, and the third number is the number of maintenance releases.
Remote Workstation Card firmware 17.05 replaces firmware 4.9.

Use with Management Console version 20.01 or newer

This firmware is supported with Management Console 20.01 or newer.

Security Updates

  • This release contains security updates over firmware 4.9.
  • The Remote Workstation Card Firmware session security mode has been improved.
  • The minimum TLS version required for establishing a PCoIP session is now TLS 1.1. The minimum TLS version required to access the Administrative Web Interface (AWI) is now TLS 1.2.
  • The Administrative Web Interface certificate is now a SHA-256 certificate with 3072-bit RSA encryption.
  • PCoIP session encryption with AES-128-GCM has been removed, only AES-256-GCM can be used.

Brokering / Removal of Connection Management Interface (CMI)

CMI is no longer available in the Remote Workstation Card. but maintains brokering with Horizon View. Brokering by way of the PCoIP Broker Protocol can be done using the Remote Workstation Card Agent.

SNMP sysName

Now reports the endpoint FQDN instead of "Teradici Corp".

Time Zone Database update

GMT time zones have been replaced with the 2016j IANA time zone database.

Compatibility

Management Console

This firmware is supported with Management Console 20.01 or newer.

Zero Client

  • Remote Workstation Card firmware 17.05 has been tested with Zero Client 17.05.
  • Other Zero Client firmware may be compatible, but is not supported.

PCoIP Software Client

  • Remote Workstation Card firmware 17.05 has been tested with PCoIP Software Client 20.04.1.
    • Other Software Client versions may be compatible with this release, but are not supported.

VMware Horizon

  • Tested with VMware Horizon View 7.11.
  • Remote Workstation Card is compatible with PCoIP Secure Gateway 7.7 and older.
